Jan Duckett - beading and jewellery specialist![]() “My name is Jan Duckett and I am addicted to beading” A few years ago I showed Rita some of my work and she said something along the lines of “so would you like to teach a class?” While I have taught a few classes, given a few talks and even judged a beading competition, I suffer from the modern day ailment of time poverty. There are never enough hours in the day to do what needs to be done, but never fear, beading ebbs and flows like most other creative hobbies so whether I can manage a few minutes or a few hours I still fit something to do with beading into most days. I have lived in Featherston for 19 years and have two teenage sons and an understanding husband who is very supportive of my beading habit. On the plus side, he doesn’t have to buy me jewellery anymore and I always have a piece of jewellery to match any outfit! While I love stitched or strung beading designs, my current passions are wirework and chainmaille jewellery. I learn from books, magazines and online tutorials. I took a class in Artclay silver which I really enjoyed, and am always looking out for different techniques to try out. If you would like to join me in my beading addiction, or check out some of my work, pop into Crafters Heaven and see about requesting a class. |
